It is currently estimated that 5.4
million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and researchers are working hard to
try to understand the disease. In fact
according to the Alzheimer’s Association, “ninety percent of what we know about
Alzheimer's has been discovered in the last 15 years.” A clearer understanding of the disease offers
a path to better treatments and care for those afflicted.
At MorningStar Memory Care at Bear
Creek, our program provides exceptional care to our residents, and as such, has
been designated by the Alzheimer’s Association for “Recognized Leaders in
Dementia Care.” To receive this honor, a
senior living community must have at least 75% of its staff complete
eight-hours of training. Topics in the
program include brain pathology and communication techniques as well as methods
to help lessen agitation without the use of drugs. The Colorado Alzheimer’s Association is the
only chapter in the country thus far to offer the program, and we are proud to
be recognized for our expertise.
In addition to the exceptional program
we provide for our special residents, Bear Creek is a leading resource in
dementia care for the Colorado Springs area.
Both professionals and families are pleased to have the opportunity to
take part in our eight-hour dementia care course. The program is sanctioned by the Alzheimer’s
Association and is offered free of charge (others charge as much as $1500 for
similar training). In recognition of our
outreach and support to the community, we have received the “Alzheimer’s
Association Leader in Dementia Care” award.
Our gorgeous and serene Bear Creek
community provides individualized memory care for those with mild to advanced
stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. We have 48 suites with a choice of studio,
one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.
MorningStar at Bear Creek is a memory
care community that uses progressive methods to palliate symptoms and revive
joy. Our foundation is built on honoring
God, valuing our seniors and hiring staff with a felt calling to serve, and is
devoted to creating a true home for residents within a serene setting. Please contact us to schedule a visit to
experience firsthand our loving community.
